The waves of the Red Sea, which are said to have parted for the Israelites so they could flee Egypt and cross over to their first destination, the Sinai Desert, are represented here with the flowing words “I will sing to the Lord, for he has triumphed gloriously. He parted the Red Sea and allowed us to cross it as if on dry land and then, just as the Egyptians reached the shores, closed it again and stymied their chase!” (Book of Exodus 15.18 Be-Shallah) The small, royal blue dishes are for the special symbols that ensure that the Jewish people will always remember what the Israelites accomplished against all odds.
